Modular Affordable Housing
Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency
The City of Vancouver in partnership with BC Housing launched an approach to provide housing for individuals that are homeless or on the verge of homelessness. This rapid response program was intended to provide housing as quick as possible. To be able to fast track the process a prototype building was developed in concert with the partners. In this way the builder was able to begin construction on the standard module units as approvals and site issues were resolved. As the buildings were designed to be moveable a Triodetic steel tubular foundation was used that had multi load points and could accommodate variations of site conditions.
13 Buildings, 10 sites, 606 units, completed in 18 months
