Galiano House

Galiano Island, B.C.

Using the ‘Ken’, the tatami matt measure sacred to Japanese architectural design, this small island home (750sf/70m2) was mirrored to double its footprint. Timber frame details were employed using site milled timber and expressed on the interior and exterior. Careful placement of window and skylights captures sacred daylight in the rain forest setting.
