A six-floor renovation to an existing police station in the heart of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Engaging directly with the need for shared office and work space, 312 Main Street responded as a beacon for social and economic innovation. By bringing together mission-driven social entrepreneurs, technological innovators, artists, not-for-profit organizations, and local residents to foster economic development, social innovation, cultural creativity and economic inclusion within the downtown Vancouver core.

Port Moody Arts Centre

Known originally as the Centennial Appleyard House, this exciting project merged two existing Heritage status buildings into one, forming this dynamic and inviting Arts building for the city of Port Moody.

Community History Centre + North Vancouver Museum & Archives

North Vancouver, B.C.

District of North Vancouver

Renovation/restoration/addition to the Lynn Valley Elementary 1920 school building to house the North Vancouver Museum and Archives. The adaptive reuse of this building included seismic upgrades, environmental system to meet museum standards, public plaza and heritage designation.

Received Design Award and Heritage Award from District of North Vancouver.

Fraser River Discovery Centre

New Westminster B.C.

Renovations and additions to this existing waterfront building to create an interpretive centre focusing on the industry and life on the Fraser River. The building houses multipurpose event spaces, temporary and permanent displays, audio visual facilities and opportunities for educational community programs.

Adaptive reuse of this existing historic train station to house a museum and archive. Interior upgrades to meet codes and museum standards. Creating a glazed area where an original breezeway separated a custom building from the train station.

The Exploration Place

Prince George, B.C.

Fraser Fort-George Museum Society

Located in Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, and adjacent to the Fraser River, this renovation and addition created a new 24,000 sf Natural History and Science Museum focusing on northern experiences and history. The sloping rotunda of the Simex ride echos the cut banks of Fraser River and the glazed outward-looking atrium overlooks the park. We were also the architects for the Master Plan development for this facility.

The challenge was to implement a complete seismic upgrade, replan and organize all departments while still providing service to the public. New infrastructure, mechanical systems, telecommunications, RFID and updated interiors made it possible to achieve a LEED Gold standard for existing buildings.
